Good Evening My Readers!
Welcome to another issue of The Boom Room! Here’s something a little different. I wrote this story for a 100-Word Microfiction contest back in the spring of 2020. It’s a short short horror story!
BONUS CONTENT: Watch out for my very FIRST podcast to follow, where you get to listen to an audio recording of The Dementia of an Aging Head read by your truly.
Enjoy!

Rue awoke, night breeze brushing her white hair, knees kneeling in black dirt.
A garden. How did she get here?
Her hands trembled, gritty fingernails submerged in soil, robotically planting a seed.
She felt a lump on her neck.
It moved.
Rue angled her head, barely. There, inches from her face, long, matted, graying hair.
Her eyes widened, breath quickened.
A second head, attached.
Rue’s heart pounded faster. Dizzy eyes descended down to her chest, abdomen, groin.
Inseparable.
The adjoining head turned towards her, yellow eyes staring.
“Lovely evening for the garden,” it said, grinning faintly. “Don’t you agree sister?”
Creeeeeepy! I love it!
